Joy 2010-01-02 | The Briza Beach Resort & Spa, Chaweng Beach What a disappointment this hotel turned out to be. Do not go by their website like we did as you will surely be disappointed. We booked in for 4 nights and if we hadnt paid up front would have left on the very 1st day. The villa itself was great with a pool (beachfront villa at 18850bht a night)They dont tell you that you have no privacy at all, they allow people to walk up to your pool wall and stare at what is inside irrespective of whether you are there or not (security is slack)everyone walks past your pool to the beach or to have a massage plus you have the jet ski s in front of you all day reving up and down. The guys who run this are permantely shouting at each other or on the bikes making as much noise as possible - so dont even think you going to go there for a relaxing time. Oh forgot to mention there is a Reggae Bar also in front of the villa s with very loud music. On the website they promise all sorts of things which dont materilise and when you ask them they say they have to refer to their manager, we did ask to see the manager - and we are still waiting !!!! On the website they state fresh fruit daily, got fruit the first day we arrived and that was it. Flower bath on arrivial - we got 2 inches of cold water in the bathtub - no flowers. 2 daily maid services a day plus a turndown at night. This did not happen - we saw the maid service once a day, after 14:00. Then we have the Bulter Serivce 24 hours - not sure what is this all about - a button on the phone and that is your butler service. They staff dont seem to understand english very well. Our New Year s eve dinner at 6500bht was also very ordinary, no free cocktails on arrival, just shown to your table and the rest was up to you. My daughter stayed at the Banana Faan - a 3 star compared to this 5 star - their evening was wonderful, a cocktail party on the beach with free wine and beers to start with, their dinner had a large variety of food, they had raffles for free dinners and spa treatments. On new Years day they all received a gift - for our price we paid I think we defintely got the short end of the stick. This is one hotel we will never visit again - this was our 6th visit to Koh Samui and the very worst of hotels. | Excellent |
malfatti mauro 2009-08-16 | The Briza Beach Resort & Spa, Chaweng Beach In short, our comment is that Briza offers fantastic accomodation and... very poor service if you consider the level - and the price! - of the hotel. We stayed at a Plunge Villa, i.e. a beautifully furnished room + an outdoor bathroom/shower area + a huge, private outdoor living room (gorgeous) + a small private jacuzzi pool: very, very beautiful. The rest of the services and facilities are, however, way below reasonable expectations and, honestly, disappointing for a 300+ USD per night hotel in Thailand..The staff tries to be friendly and helpful, but they lack training and the poor english is a serious additional obstacle. We understand most of the rooms have their own (small) private pool, but nevertheless would expect a nice big hotel pool to be also available, while the existing one is very disappointing.Other small details are also negatively surprising: fake flowers everywhere, or the fact the all lights in the garden are turned off after midnight, and that makes it very dificult (and little dangerous) to get back to your room. The location is good, as it sits just on one of the most beautiful angles of Chaweng Beach, but you need a motorbike if you want to get to the restaurant, bar and shop area. One final positive note: our flight to BKK was at 7.30 pm, and they offered us a free late check out at 6.oo pm | I ve used Sawadee more than 20 times during my previous trips to Thailand, and I think it is one of the best web booking services in the world. What is not good is the transfer service they provide: this was probably the third time I happened to use it, and for a third time in a row it was half an hour late. |
McCulloch 2009-03-22 | The Briza Beach Resort & Spa, Chaweng Beach We had a wonderful time at the Briza Beach Resort. It has a perfect location and was in the quiet part of the beach (beautiful but shallow) and only a short walk into town. On the upside the staff were friendly and exceedingly helpful. We stayed in a beachfront Villa which came with own butler who was superb. Nothing was too much trouble. We often asked for ice to cool our champagne/beer/wine so they knew to bring huge containers or sacks full! On the downside was definately the mozzies. Had quite a few bits, but not eaten alive. We just wore mozzie spray. Best to take some aeroguard with you and some mozzie coils if you are sitting outside at night, and if you stay in a beachside villa, need to put mozzie coil in outside shower toilet bath area (beautiful). We loved it and would go back again for sure. | Very easy and had to make changes. Nothing was too much effort or trouble. |
Mark Young 2008-04-28 until 2008-05-02 | Briza Beach Resort & Spa, Chaweng Beach Had a great experience with the hotel! Hotel is nice, but a little way out of town. But kind and friendly staff. Meals were ok, nothing special, but would hightly recommend. | Great communication and great service. Would use again for sure! |
Michelle Bullard 2008-04-09 until 2008-04-16 | Briza Beach Resort & Spa, Chaweng Beach A mixed bag really. We unfortunatly had money taken from our suitcases left in the room. On the other hand the staff treated the matter very seriously and made every effort to help us by ways of compensation through travel insurance. Im sure every hotle wherever you go has this kind of trouble. Staff were very friendly and helpful, they even let us have a late check-out of 8pm as we were flying out at 9pm. Overall beautiful resort in a good area and we really were able to relax there | Very easy |
Thomas Wallin 2008-02-08 until 2008-02-10 | Briza Beach Resort & Spa, Chaweng Beach A very nice resort with an exelent level of service and perfekt villas. The pool area is amasing and childrens friendly, however the beach area in front of the hotel is very very small compared to other hotels on Chewing beach. | Very high level of service. |
ben grunberg 2008-01-24 until 2008-01-30 | Briza Beach Resort & Spa, Chaweng Beach From the moment we arrived we were treated like royalty. The ocean view villa with private pool was amazing-truly the best resort we have stayed in.Also thanks to owen and nitto for making us feel so welcome. ben & marlene. australia | great price compared to other sites. |
Susan Edge 2007-07-22 until 2007-07-23 | Briza Beach Resort & Spa, Chaweng Beach It s nicely done but no point paying extra for the larger villas with outside pool and seating area as you will be bitten alive by mosquitos in seconds. There is alot of greenery and standing water and although it looks great the being bitten ruins it and that s with insect repellent.... It s on a hill and the pathways between lobby and the villas are very steep in places. Not good if you ahve bad knees like I had at the time. It seemed very quiet there. Late check out was great and staff are very firendly and keen to help. Maybe it s worth suggesting to them if they ahve that much greenery they spray all plants monthly like Singapore do to reduce the mosquitos. | Great |
